Betis CEO Confirms Possibility of Antony Staying Permanently

Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon has admitted that there is a “possibility” of signing Antony permanently from Manchester United after his impressive start to life in La Liga.

Antony moved to Betis on loan in January after failing to start a single Premier League match under Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy, or Ruben Amorim this season. With limited game time at Old Trafford, the Brazilian winger secured a move to Spain in search of a fresh start.

Despite Betis’ mixed results, Antony has quickly made an impact, earning Player of the Match honors in both of his first two appearances against Athletic Club (2-2) and Celta Vigo (2-3). To put that into perspective, he was only named Player of the Match once during his entire Premier League career at United.

Speaking to Radio Sevilla’s Libre y Directo, Alarcon confirmed that Betis would consider keeping Antony beyond this season.

“I think so,” Alarcon said when asked about the possibility of signing Antony permanently.
“The other day, the CEO of United called me. We sent them all the plays and details of the player from the whole week so that they can see that we are looking after their asset. There is very good chemistry with Manchester [United] and with the player. It is a possibility that he will continue next season—why not?”

Antony Enjoying Regular Game Time in Spain

Although there is no option or obligation to buy in his current loan deal, Antony is clearly thriving with the regular playing time at Betis.

When recently asked about his future, the 24-year-old winger remained cautious but acknowledged the importance of getting minutes on the pitch.

“Individually, it’s been a very important start for me,” Antony said.
“All I wanted was to play, to be able to be on the pitch. These have been two games in which I’ve felt very good, I’ve scored my first goal. We have to keep working so that the victories come. That’s what I want most.”

Antony’s strong performances could force Betis into making a move, but much will depend on Manchester United’s stance and financial demands in the summer transfer window.
